A4A chastises fed attempt to block airline merger The U.S. Department of Justice is seeking to block a proposed merger between U.S. Airways and American Airlines, a move that the industry's main association said would be a disservice to customers. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Justice Department and six states filed a lawsuit Tuesday to stop the merger, saying that the deal would lead to higher fares and fees for travelers. Both companies said they would fight the lawsuit.
